Singer Abhijeet Bhattacharya gives a hilarious and honest reaction to the remake of his 90s hit Chunari Chunari in the film Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai.
Bollywood is remixing once more – forever remixing old songs like it is a DJ night! The latest number getting a remix is the 90s classic Chunari Chunari from Biwi No. 1, but guess who is not dancing to this? Singer Abhijeet Bhattacharya.
Abhijeet dropped a truth bomb. “It was never a great song for me,” he acknowledged, probably sipping chai with his head then shaking side to side. “It was just an instrument. Yeah, I have my name connected to it, but it’s not my song.”
A singer is throwing shade at his hit? That’s like a chef saying, “Sure, I made the biryani, but I was just boiling rice.”
The new version of Chunari Chunari is featured in the upcoming film Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai starring Varun Dhawan, Pooja Hegde, and Mrunal Thakur. The three stars were spotted in London filming the remix.
Abhijeet doesn’t seem too concerned. He says, “You guys can remix it if you want. I wasn’t attached. It was like that relative at the wedding you only pretend to like.”
The original Chunari Chunari was a Salman Khan and Sushmita Sen special. It was packed with dhol, drama, and enough energy to power a small village.
Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai is being directed by David Dhawan and will be released on April 10, 2026. The film marks the fourth time that David and his son Varun Dhawan have worked together.
In contrast, while some fans want to see a modernized version of “Chunari Chunari”, others are expressing that certain Bollywood classics should be preserved and not been “touched with”. Abhijeet’s candid comments have thrown gasoline on the fire, and now this remake is one of the hottest topics being discussed in the Bollywood community.
