Elisabeth Moss just spilled some iconic throwback tea she found Angelina Jolie super intimidating on the set of Girl, Interrupted.
Elizabeth Moss just spilled some hot behind-the-scenes tea from the set of Girl, Interrupted! And yes, it includes Hollywood royalty, sudden intimidation, and one very flustered Elizabeth Moss. Buckle in!
Elizabeth Moss explained what working on the 1999 film next to Angelina Jolie was like. It wasn’t all cafeteria lunches and a relaxed movie set. Nope. According to Moss, it was more like, “HELP. I’m in the presence of a goddess who could single-handedly ruin me emotionally just by acting too hard.”
“She was very intimidating,” Moss said, and honestly, who could blame her? Angelina was out here doing the most and becoming the wild and captivating Lisa Rowe with such energy that even seasoned actors were likely sweating a bit. And Moss, who was still new to the scene, was along for the front row of the Jolie talent tornado.
“She was so intense, so powerful,” Moss went on, still probably thinking whether it had truly happened as she imagined it like a cinematic fever dream. “There was this energy, like, ‘oh, she’s going to win an Oscar for this role.
Picture yourself as a naive actress attempting to hold your lines, smile pleasantly, and perhaps score a donut on the craft services table, and boom, here’s Angelina Jolie, going all out for this role, like she’s got Shakespeare’s ghost in her corner. No wonder Moss felt a little out of her depth.
But hold off, Moss didn’t mean that Angie was a diva or rude, it was more like… being in the presence of a wild tiger. Beautiful, elegant, but also capable of ripping your soul apart with a single steamy glance.
This only adds another layer to the levels we have taken our obsession with Girl, Interrupted.
The off-screen vibes were just as powerful as the on-screen drama! Who knew that the behind scenes experience of a future Emmy-winner Moss was freaking out internally about Jolie’s Oscar-worthy domination?
So, let’s be thankful to Elisabeth Moss for getting through that crazy set with (mostly) her nerves intact, and gifting us the nostalgic tea we didn’t even know we needed.
