Chris Martin and Dakota Johnson have officially split after 8 years together

Coldplay’s frontman Chris Martin and Hollywood actress Dakota Johnson have officially parted ways after almost eight years of dating. The couple led a very quiet and private romantic life, and they reportedly broke things off because they differed on views about having children, along with very demanding work commitments.

Chris and Dakota’s love story started in 2017, during a time when fidget spinners were a thing, and TikTok was still unknown. They were the definition of a private couple; they were hardly seen together, but healthy, mutual friendship and respect for one another.

Their relationship was a mix of Hollywood nights and hometown days. They moved in together in Malibu in 2021, and Dakota directed a Coldplay music video.

But of course, love is rarely a smooth ride. Reports confirm that Chris and Dakota have broken up, and this time, it appears to be final.

Sources have indicated that different viewpoints about starting a family were a big thing between them. Dakota may have wanted to start a family, whereas Chris, who has two kids with ex-wife Gwyneth Paltrow, felt that he was done with that aspect of parenting.

Also their hectic work schedules kept them apart. Chris has been on tour with Coldplay, and Dakota has also been busy with her acting work.

Dakota did not allow the breakup to take away her glow. She stepped out in New York City, clothed in a bright sheer piece by Nensi Dojaka, and accessorized with some luxury pieces from Gucci, Oliver Peoples, and Saint Laurent. This comes just one day after the news broke that she and Martin had broken off their engagement.

Although the breakup is fresh, both stars are directing their focus on their careers. Dakota has a new movie called “Materialists” coming out on June 13, and Chris continues his tour with Coldplay.

Chris and Dakota’s relationship was a refreshing blend of privacy and genuine affection. While this separation marks the end of a chapter, both will continue to have tremendous success in their journey.
